Lately I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to put fun on hold.

For a long time, I treated breaks, hobbies, and time with other people as something I could enjoy once all my work was done. The problem was that there was always more work to do. Another assignment, another deadline, another thing to worry about. So instead of taking breaks, I would just keep pushing through.

What I’ve realized is that waiting until I’m completely stress-free to enjoy life doesn’t really work. If I only let myself have fun when everything is finished, I end up not having much fun at all.
